GreenWood, Inc., an integrated maintenance, construction and workforce solutions provider, announces the addition of Shannon McKamey as Project Manager located in Greenville, South Carolina. In this role, Shannon is responsible for management of all capital, maintenance and general staffing support services provided at the customer’s project location.

As a licensed professional engineer, Shannon brings over 20 years of experience in the engineering and technical management industry to this position at GreenWood. His background includes various levels of responsibility in project management, department management, construction management, structural engineering, civil and environmental engineering, estimating and QA/QC engineering.

Shannon earned both a B.S. and M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Tennessee. He has also completed additional education through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for Construction Quality Management for Contractors; training in Six Sigma methodology; OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations; and John C. Maxwell Laws of Leadership.

GreenWood, Inc., an integrated maintenance, construction and workforce solutions provider, announces a partnership with BridgeValley Community and Technical College that offers a National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) craft training program in pipefitting. Through this relationship, those seeking piping careers have an opportunity to participate in an internship program that provides classroom instruction at BridgeValley and hands-on training at a GreenWood project site. Within the BridgeValley classroom, students will learn to read and interpret structural drawings, solve mathematical problems for pipefitting, gain insights into process technology, and receive an education in safety, health, and environmental. Students will progress through phases of the NCCER curriculum allowing them to apply learnings to real-world scenarios. Qualified candidates will be considered for employment opportunities that combine on-the-job training with continued classroom studies with the ultimate goal of earning the NCCER Certified Pipefitter designation. All courses are being taught by GreenWood personnel credentialed in the NCCER curriculum.

GreenWood, Inc., an integrated maintenance, construction and workforce solutions provider, was recently presented with the Lighthouse Beam Safety Award by BB&T Insurance Services. The award is designed to emphasize safety and health throughout a company’s organization and is reserved only for companies who achieve excellence in safety performance. To qualify, a company must achieve outstanding overall safety performance based on criteria for a client’s workers’ compensation policy loss ratio, workers’ compensation experience modification (EMR), and BLS/DART/OSHA recordable incident rate. This year, GreenWood, Inc. was presented with the prestigious crystal award to mark six consecutive years of receiving this recognition and is only the second company to accomplish this since inception of the award.

WBENC’s national standard of certification is a meticulous process including an in-depth review of the business. The world-class certification is accepted by more than 1,000 corporations representing America’s most prestigious brands, in addition to many states, cities and other entities. WBENC is also an approved Third Party Certifier for the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contracting Program.

This certification for GreenWood comes after a recently implemented succession plan named Laura Lipscomb as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Laura is the daughter of company founder, John Wood, and her brother Brad serves as GreenWood’s President.
